Hi {!firstname},
 Thanksgiving and Black Friday have come and gone for our American friends and it was great fun to participate in both this year! The turkey dinner was delicious and despite all the warnings, I enjoyed the Black Friday shopping experience. I ventured to the Outlet Mall in Ellenton with a friend.....survived the crowds and line ups to take advantage of a few terrific bargains. Great day for people watching too!
I heard from family and friends in Canada, that some Canadian retailers followed suit this year, with a similar strategy to kick off the holiday shopping season. That is good news for shoppers but I wonder about the impact on Canadian retailers and wholesalers. The prices in Canada are higher, in most categories, than in the U.S. and we often feel at a cost of living disadvantage to our American friends. However, don't forget that the discounts they enjoy from their huge volume purchasing, as well as their incredible retail volume allows different pricing strategies, at every level of the supply chain.
I wonder most of all about our small specialty retailers, who provide service and rely on margin not volume to generate their bottom line. Do enough of us appreciate the attentive service and the quality and uniqueness of their products? Quite a while since I was in the Consumer Products Industry - love to hear from my friends who are watching this scenerio front and centre!

- Enjoy the opportunity of vacation in other nearby countries
I believe that big and small trips enhance our life equally. One of the things we can do, that is very rewarding, is to pique our curiosity as often as possible.
Small frequent trips do this. They are at our finger tips and usually inexpensive!
